The Decorators

The Decorators, an architecture and art collective, wanted to create a pop-up restaurant in a busy London market to explore how social interaction relates to the built environment. We provided a six burner, a double basin sink with hand washer, a two door fridge and a water heater for the full three weeks of the project.

The project saw a pop-up restaurant created on a scaffolding structure in a derelict area of Ridley Road Market in Dalston, London, temporarily transforming the space into a venue for outdoor exhibitionist eating. A line-up of guest chefs created different daily menus using only market produce, while diners shared a communal table high above the market. The meals were prepared in the ground floor kitchen and raised by a mechanical table up to the guests on the first floor.

"PKL were extremely helpful in supplying the relevant kitchen equipment we needed to help us put together such a demanding event. Our business relationship was exceptionally good - they really listened to our needs and exceeded all our expectations. I would, without a doubt, recommend PKL to other businesses and would most definitely use their services again in the future."
